Adiquit Project Successfully Concludes its Mission to Address Smoking in Georgia

The Adiquit Project, established under the Czech-UNDP Challenge Fund, has successfully completed its mission to tackle smoking-related health issues in Georgia. Developed in the Czech Republic, the innovative Adiquit app combines cognitive behavioural therapy with digital technology to provide personalized smoking cessation support. Implemented in partnership with Alternative Georgia (AltGeo), the project aimed to adapt and localize the app to the Georgian context, ensuring cultural and linguistic relevance.

Despite of challenges, the project achieved significant milestones, including piloting the app, engaging stakeholders, and launching an extensive awareness campaign that reached over 400,000 people. Collaboration with AltGeo, a leading organization in public health and harm reduction in Georgia, was key in adapting the app to local needs and contexts. The project also gained dedicated support from Georgian healthcare institutions such as the National Centre for Disease Control and the Georgian Family Medicine Association. More details about AltGeo’s initiatives can be found at AltGeo Projects.

Through university collaborations and targeted public outreach, the project introduced Adiquit to a wide audience, emphasizing its role as an accessible tool for smoking cessation. The initiative has not only contributed to improving public health in Georgia but also laid the groundwork for sustainable integration into the country’s healthcare system.
